More about the Channel 4 documentary

Following the award-winning Cutting Edge film about the extraordinary talents of Eton music scholar and cystic fibrosis sufferer Alex Stobbs, this sequel follows him in his first year at Cambridge University.

Studying music, and singing with the world famous King's College Choir alongside his older brother Paddy, Alex is now preparing for his next big challenge: conducting the epic choral work the St Matthew Passion by Bach.

But as his musical talent continues to develop and grow, so too does the seriousness of Alex's incurable illness as he copes with a particularly virulent form of Cystic Fibrosis that is gradually destroying his lungs.

Alex: A Passion For Life follows Alex, now aged 19, fully in charge of his own medication and entirely responsible for his own well-being for the first time, as he battles with sheer determination to live a normal student life, complete with late nights, a girlfriend and a packed social diary, in addition to his extraordinarily heavy study schedule.
